Getting Started Campaigns

Campaigns

What are Campaigns?

Campaigns let you send personalised emails to a group of contacts in one go. Instead of writing individual emails, you write a template once and let the AI tailor each draft to the specific recipient — pulling in context about their account, role, and history.

A typical campaign might:

  • Reach out to accounts that have not renewed yet to share a case study relevant to their industry.
  • Send a check-in email to recently onboarded accounts personalised with their usage so far.
  • Notify a segment of contacts about a new feature that matches their use case.

Creating a campaign

Open Campaigns from the main sidebar and click New Campaign. The builder walks you through four steps.

Step 1 — Audience

Select the contacts who will receive this campaign.

Browse lets you search and filter all contacts in your workspace. You can filter by account owner to focus on your own accounts, search by name, email, company, or role, and select contacts individually or by account.

Paste emails lets you paste a list of email addresses (separated by commas, semicolons, or line breaks). Strand will match them to contacts already in your workspace and pre-select the matches.

At least one contact must be selected before you can continue.

Step 2 — Compose

Set up the content of your campaign:

  • Campaign name — a label for your reference (not visible to recipients).
  • Description — optional notes about the goal or context of this campaign.
  • Subject line — the email subject sent to every recipient. You can use this as a base template.
  • Body — the email body. Write your core message here. This is the template the AI will personalise, so include everything you want to say and let the AI adapt the tone and specifics per recipient.
  • AI personalisation prompt — optional instructions for how the AI should personalise each draft. For example: “Reference the contact’s company name and industry. Adjust the tone to match their seniority.” If left blank, the AI will apply default personalisation based on available account context.
  • Send from — choose whether to send via Gmail or Outlook. You must have connected the corresponding account in Settings → Connectors.

Click Review Drafts when you are ready to preview the AI-generated emails.

Step 3 — Review

Before anything is sent, the AI generates a personalised draft for each recipient. You can read every draft in this step and make edits where needed.

  • Click Edit on any draft to modify the subject or body for that recipient.
  • Save your changes before moving on.

No emails are sent during this step — this is purely a review and editing stage.

Step 4 — Send

Once you are happy with the drafts, click Send Campaign. Strand will send each email to its recipient using the provider you selected.

After sending, you will see a summary showing how many emails were sent successfully and how many failed.

Best practices

  • Write a clear body template. The AI works best when the base message is specific. Vague templates produce vague personalisation. Include your value proposition, a clear ask, and any context the AI can build on.
  • Use the AI personalisation prompt for tone and emphasis. Rather than rewriting the body template per segment, use the prompt to guide how the AI adapts it — for example “emphasise the cost-saving angle for finance teams”.
  • Review every draft before sending. AI-generated emails can miss nuance. Spot-check a few and edit where the personalisation feels off before sending to the full list.
  • Keep your contact data up to date. The AI draws on account and contact information in Strand. Campaigns are more effective when roles, company names, and account details are accurate.
